The
Wedding Ring
A
wedding ring or band has been exchanged between the Bride
and Groom as a symbol of commitment for centuries. The Romans
believed that the third finger of the left hand was linked
directly to the heart and that the wedding band represented
eternity.
Gold
wedding rings are still the most popular choice although recent
years have seen a revival of interest in platinum.
Ensure that your wedding ring both compliments and fits comfortably
with your engagement ring. An important point to remember
when buying a ring is that usually the lower the 'carat',
the harder wearing the ring will be.
We
always sugest that the wedding ring and the engagement ring
are the same carat. The colour of gold is dependent upon the
choice of the other metals used, the addition of copper to
9 and 18 carat gold gives it a pink or bronze tone. Twenty
four carat is pure gold. We will be able to supply wedding
rings of a 999 standard, hallmarked, in the near future.

An
interesting new fashion is for the wedding band to be
set with precious stones. 'Wave' rings, where the band
is cut at the front so that the engagement ring fits snugly,
are also increasing in popularity. |

DIAMOND
ENGAGEMENT RINGS
Most
engagement rings are diamond set. The graphic below shows
the geometric properties of a brilliant cut diamond together
with the most popular shapes.
